Those who say "Yes" ranges from Prithviraj to Thilakan to Sukumar Azhikode to Film experts/geniuses.These great people have their own reasons for that.Let me express the views of a common man whose relation with film industry is limited in "standing in long queue, buying a ticket and leaving the theater with hangover of the movie ".
Majority of them are of opinion that "these two M's are destroying the chances of new-comers".I have only one demand "I need good movies,I don't care whether it is Mohanlal or Jayasuria".Geniuses say that M's should quit film industry so that newcomers can grow. What did these geniuses think of us??.Are we guinea pigs for them to test newcomers?.It is like saying "dear public, please satisfy yourselves with low grade movies till newcomers are able to act like M's".My reply to that is "I need good movies,I can't sacrifice viewing good movies for the sake of Jayasuria or Narain or ---- becomming superstar.".
The previous comment by those geniuses are infact an insult to newcomers. They say that M's are the enemies of newcomers.I won't prefer the word enemy, there was better phrases like "healthy competitors ",but if they consider them as enemies let it be like that, but then, What else is pathetic and cowardly than asking to enemy "Dear enemies, will you please stop your war and sit aside so that we shall also become something?"!!..Even if a newcomer become superstar this way ,it is a shame for him because it is not because of his talent but it is a mercy from M's.So called victory achieved with consent of enemy!!If they have talent let them fight with M's and become superstars,no one will stop them.
We can understand the stupidity in these if we apply this principle in a more sensitive feild. For eg ,how foolish it will be 80 years back.If an young politician goes to Gandhi and asks "Bapu, you are old and you have been working for freedom for many years, now please retire and give us a chance let us also grow".We are sacrificing freedom for growth of young politician.Ultimate aim is freedom/Good movies in our case, we are not really bothered of growth of youngsters. We want value of our ticket charge.
Other argument is, these old men (M's) should act only in roles like ,Grand-father,elder people etc.Is it the age or physical appearance which determine the role?.Will you belive that oomen chandi is only 6 years elder than Rajini Kanth and 9 years elder than Mammootty?.It is not the age which determine the roles. Moreover it is a shame for youngsters that "these old men are preferred over young jayasuria/prithviraj/narain even for roles of young heros !!"
Mohanlal gave me vinod of "thalavattom " at his age of 26,Vishnu of "Chithram " at the age of 28,Same is the case with Mammootty.I don't think any newcomer will have any such acting marvels in his account. It is talent which matters not the age.
It is not the geniuses who should decide when M's should retire,it is we the common mass. They will continue till we say "Mammookka/Lalettan it is enough ,your acting has lost it's glory,it is time for you to retire,THANK YOU for giving us such wonderful movies ".Now they are at their glory,,don't miss their movies for silly reasons because people like these takes birth very few times in a millennium.
